Purapurawhetu Right Choice Day

Today we had our Right Choice Day.  We got to do all sorts of activities to celebrate the right choices we have been making.  Below is a photo of some of us that brought our scooters and bikes to school.

Feilding Schools Art Exhibition

This morning all of Purapurawhetu walked down to the Feilding School's Art Exhibition.   It was great to see all of the art work that the students had done.   We really liked the Puffer Fish and the Pinecone Owls.  Photographed above is some of Room 20's art on display.

Daffodil Day

Today is Daffodil Day.  It is a day where North Street School fund raise to give money to support the Cancer Society.  The Cancer Society does great work in looking after and supporting people and their families.  Here are Tarshay, Emma, Jay and Dante after placing their daffodil out the front of our school.

Our cross-country is coming up in week 7.  It is going to be at Timona Park again this year.  We have already started our training for this.  We are trying to run at a consistent pace and build stamina.

The Purapurawhetu Space Concert

On Thursday we did our Space Concert for our families and whanau.  We began the concert by doing a dance to the song "Space Jam."  Then it was our class, Room 20's, turn to perform.  We did a dance to the song "Phases of the Moon" and we recited a poem.  Room 21 were stars, Room 22 were suns and Room 18 were the planets.  At the end of the concert we all sang "Star Trekking."  Our families loved seeing our performances.

Matariki

Tracey Wheeler (Whaea Tracey) came to our class to tell us a story about Matariki.  She played the recorder and told the story using her props while we sat in a circle on the floor and listened to her.  It was very cool when the 7 stars of Matariki lit up in the sky.  After Tracey had finished, we made Matariki stars using flax.

Costumes for the Concert

We have been busy making headbands for the Purapurawhetu Space Concert.  Some of us are going to have headbands that show the phases of the moon.  Conan is going to be the sun and Jordin is going to be Earth.  The rest of us will have silver crescent moons on our headbands with silver sparkles.  We are all going to dress in black clothing.
